Color Lab

Tone cards

An exceptionally wide color spectrum is available in the Colour Lab for Crown products – total up to 58,203 shades, organized through the systems Crown, British Standard, NCS, RAL, RAL DESIGN и PANTONE.

Tone maps are standardized color systems that allow precise definition, reproduction and color control, without deviations between different batches, products or objects. Each shade is mathematically and visually defined, which guarantees a consistent result when mixing and re-making.

The color structure of shades is based on three basic parameters:

  • Hue: the basic color-direction of color (red, yellow, blue, green and their intermediate shades).

  • Lightness: the level of brightness or darkness of a color, from dark to light tones.

  • Chroma: the intensity and purity of color – from muted, neutral tones to highly saturated hues.

This systematic approach enables precise palette building, control of contrast and harmony, and reliable shade selection for interior, exterior, and professional projects. Tone cards are the basis for accurate color selection and are a reference tool for architects, designers, and contractors.

ColorKey

Crown ColorKey is a compact pocket-sized color scanning device that, via a mobile app, allows you to measure the hue of almost any surface and instantly get closest match from a base of thousands of colors.

Compared to similar tools, it offers a wider selection and more precise results thanks to advanced optics and high-CRI white LEDs, with over 92% accuracy from the first measurement. ColourKey matches with Crown Paints shades, as well as with British Standard, RAL и NCS standards.

Additionally, it displays useful color parameters such as LRV, HEX, RGB, Lab/LCH и CMYK, and suggests ready-made color schemes to make it easier to create harmonious combinations around the chosen shade.

A5 cards

A5 cards are physical samples of selected shades – ideal for realistic color assessment in space. Unlike a screen or small tone card, the A5 format gives you a better idea of:

•how the shade looks in daylight and artificial light

•how it reacts next to furniture, floors and textiles

You can view and compare A5 cards directly in our store, with expert recommendations for the most appropriate combination and finish.

Sweat tester

A test patch is the safest step before making a final decision: a small amount of paint that you use to test the shade directly on your wall, in real-world conditions. This way, you get a realistic picture of how the paint will look when applied to a larger surface and how it will behave in the space you live or work in.

With a pot tester you can check:

•the right tone and intensity of color in your space

•how it changes throughout the day – morning light, direct sun, shadows and evening artificial lighting

•how it looks next to existing elements – flooring, furniture, tiles, curtains and other materials

Color Visualizer

With Color Visualizer you can virtually see the selected shade on the walls – a great tool for quick selection, comparing multiple options and testing combinations, contrasts and tonal directions in different rooms.

It is important to keep in mind that visualization serves as orientation: The color on the screen may vary depending on the lighting, device calibration and materials in the room. Therefore, for the most accurate selection, we recommend that you come to our showroom – for consultation, checking the nuances with tone cards, A5 copies and, if necessary, sweat tester for testing in real conditions.
